Mary, the Mother of Jesus – is known as “Mama Mary” to Christians around the world. Many countries have a day dedicated to Mama Mary. In the Philippines, it’s celebrated on September 8th. This day is so special because it’s her birthday! Happy birthday, Mama Mary!

There are many reasons why Christians celebrate this feast day of the Mother of God. For starters, she is believed to be the first woman ever to conceive life through spiritual means – she was immaculately conceived without an earthly father or mother.

The Catholic Church proclaimed Mary as the Mother of God, Theotokos, on December 25, 1950. According to this belief, Theotokos means incarnated one. Therefore Mary was believed to have been born without a human father or mother through the Holy Spirit.

The words Theotokos comes from two Greek words – the first word is “theos” which translates into “God” and “tokos” which translates into “mother.

Mary is the only woman who is included in the New Testament, as she was present at God’s eternal act of creation – this act was made possible through the Holy Spirit which overshadowed her. Another thing about Mother Mary; She is believed to be the highest level person ever to exist on earth. The Bible says that only God can be compared to her.

This is a very important feast day to Christians, because it reminds us that Mary was chosen by God to give birth to His Son, Jesus Christ. God did not have a husband and did not have a father, except for the Holy Spirit. That’s why this day is so important.

Mary was believed to be pregnant before Joseph and when she gave birth to Jesus – she only held Him in her arms for three months, which means He’s ‘only’ 3 years old.

It is a sweet and special pleasure for Christians to celebrate this day. We find a lot of joy and happiness in remembering the birthday of Our Lady, known as “Mama Mary”. Here a few of many reasons why we celebrate this day:

  1. She is one of the greatest persons ever to exist on earth. In fact, she is believed to be the highest level person ever to exist on earth.
  2. The Bible says that only God can be compared to her.
  3. She is believed to be born without an earthly father or mother through the Holy Spirit.
  4. She was believed to be the first woman ever conceived without human intervention.
  5. Mary was chosen by God to give birth to His Son, Jesus Christ – this is a very important fact because it is through her that we have salvation and eternal life – she is our Mother!
  6. It is a pleasant memory of the joyful moment when Mama Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ.
  7. She was believed to be pregnant for four months before giving birth to Jesus Christ.

On this auspicious day, let us know, love and respect our Mother Mary, so that we can imitate her in many ways. Let us also remember the great things she did for us and let us celebrate her birthday with joy and gratitude! Happy birthday Mama Mary!
