Archuleta also reveals that he’s excited for the future and is proud of who God made him to be. His coming out caused a great deal of controversy among Netizens who felt that Archuleta had made his sexuality a publicity stunt.

The singer said he wants to make it clear that media should not use his personal life as an example for other people who are struggling with their sexual orientation. He said he doesn’t want people to feel pressured about coming out themselves.

Archuleta expressed his thoughts and emotions through an Instagram post about how he struggled in hiding his sexual orientation for roughly 20 years. A big factor was due to his religious upbringing as Archuleta was raised a Mormon.

One of the main beliefs in the Mormon religion is that it can be considered a sin to experience homosexual feelings. This belief spreads throughout Mormon culture and members are often not allowed to associate with LGBTQIA+ people.

“I like to keep to myself but also thought this was important to share because I know so many other people from religious upbringings feel the same way. I’ve been open to myself and my close family for some years now that I am not sure about my own sexuality. I came out in 2014 as gay to my family. But then I had similar feelings for both genders so maybe a spectrum of bisexual. Then I also have learned I don’t have too much sexual desires and urges as most people which works I guess because I have a commitment to save myself until marriage. Which people call asexual when they don’t experience sexual urges. There are people experiencing the same feelings of being LGBTQIA+ (I know that’s a lot of letters that a lot of people don’t understand, but there are a lot of unique experiences people feel and live that make them feel isolated and alone that are represented) who are wrestling to follow their beliefs that are so important to them, just as I have.” – Archuleta posted on his Instagram.

David Archuleta has gained a lot of attention from the public after revealing that he is member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Archuleta’s Instagram post was very much appreciated by the LGBTQIA+ community and even some of his fans showed their support to him in their comments.

One of the first messages that David Archuleta’s followers have been trying to convey him is that they are by his side for whatever decision he’ll make. Others who read his post have been telling him to keep up with the good work and continue fighting for what he believes in.
