Pinoy pride Kai Sotto, playing for Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA Asia Cup this month, returns to Manila on Monday, may 31, 2021 to rejoin the team.

The 19-year-old basketball prodigy has recently signed a contract to play for the Adelaide 36ers in Australia’s National Basketball League, now his availability to play for Gilas Pilipinas in the 3rd leg of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers is unsure. The said game is set to be held in Clark, Pampanga this coming June 16. Gilas Pilipinas encountered a heavy load in the first two legs of the FIBA Asia Cup, but with the possibility of Sotto playing for the team in third leg of the game, we can hope that reinforcement is on its way.
“Depende na sa ano kung may mababago pa, pero ako, kahit anong mangyari, stay ready pa rin ako maglaro kahit kailan pa yan na nandito ako sa Pilipinas,” Sotto said in an interview with the media.
Sotto a player that has more than proven his value since he came into the team earlier this year. While his participation in the third leg of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers is uncertain, Sotto is focused on helping Gilas in the upcoming Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Serbia, set to happen on June 29.
“First time ko na makakalaro sa national team Sobrang excited. Hindi ako makapaghintay na makasama yung team,” said Sotto in an interview with the press.
